The Trump Administration has decided to end the temporary protection status given to nearly 9,000 Nepalese migrants. Officials have asked them to leave the country or go to some other place.
Temporary protection status (TPS) is provided to people from countries facing humanitarian crisis and environmental disasters, because people find it difficult to return home due to these reasons.
This decision of the Trump administration will affect 8,950 people. 85 percent of these are living in New York. Such people of Nepal will either have to return or they will be deported. Although the decision to abolish the TPS received by Nepal's 8,950 immigrants will be effective from June 24, 2019. A decade has been given to systematize this decision in a systematic way.
