London. A British historian wants to send the Indian soldier Alam Bhagh's skull of India in the rebellion of 1857 to India and be buried there. He was sentenced to death for revolting against East India Company. Captain AR Costello Alam brought the skull to Britain. The scalp was later found in a pub in Kent's coastal city of Walmar.
Dr. Kim Wagner, Senior Lecturer of British Imperial History at Queen Mary College, London, believes that this is the right time to bury Hav Alam at his birthplace. His skull should be buried near the Ravi river on the border of India and Pakistan. At this place, he participated in the battle of Trimbu Ghat. Hav Alam used to work in the 46th Bengal Infantry Regiment. They were accused of killing members of the Scottish missionary. They were arrested and taken away by the cannon.
Wagner says that our focus is only on the fact that after 160 years of death their remains can be buried at the house. The British historian has given birth to a possible discussion between the Indian and British diplomats on this matter. However, he also says that it will take time and he does not expect this to happen in the near future.
It is said that the British High Commission in India, the Royal Asiatic Society and some NGOs of India are discussing this matter. After contacting the family of skulls in 2014, Wagoner researched Alam and started writing the book. His book was recently published.
